"A Single Mother's Bankruptcy"
Life After Bankruptcy Stories
Back
in 1998 I was a 23 year old single mother of two children and I was up
to my ears in debt. I was scared to answer the phone because of the
creditors. Nobody told me about bankruptcy or what it would do for me.
I
didn't know much about bankruptcy, but I started doing some research on
my own. I found a good local attorney and he showed me that filing
chapter 7 was my best option.
He was right - after it was done I was so relieved and I was very happy
that I did it. It removed all my debts.
Emotionally, is was like
a
huge load being lifted off of me because I was able to wipe the slate
clean and start over and that was a relief. Financially, I was able to
stop my check from being garnished and I was able to take care of the
household without worry.
I was very happy that I filed and I believe it was a very good thing
that I did for myself and my family. I was allowed a second chance and
with my second chance I was going to do better. I had learned my lesson
about credit and how it can affect you and your entire life.
I know people think that
others frown on you when you have filed any bankruptcy but they really
don't. I do not feel there is anything wrong with filing bankruptcy and
getting a new chance at life. When I filed it really was the
best option for me.
After it's done things really look up. You are able to rebuild your
credit and if you have learned your lesson and do it right, then you
can have better credit than you had before.
You feel like you have a life again. Second chances are hard to come by
so take it and your life after bankruptcy can be better than ever. I
would recommend anyone really struggling with debt and
feeling like they're sinking to seriously consider their options,
including bankruptcy.
