Credit Counseling in Arizona and Debtor Education

Here you will learn how to find approved providers of credit counseling in Arizona credit and debtor education.

As a result of the bankruptcy laws enacted in 2005, individuals who file personal bankruptcy (with limited exceptions) in Arizona must:

1. take a credit counseling course from an approved Arizona credit counseling provider within six months before filing bankruptcy; and

2. complete a debtor education course from an approved Arizona debtor education agency prior to receiving a bankruptcy discharge.

There is a small fee ($50.00 to $100.00) for both credit counseling and debtor education. However, this fee may be waived depending on a person's ability to pay and/or other eligibility requirements. The fee waiver must be requested from the agency prior to receipt of services.
