"Bankruptcy to Save Our Home"
Life After Bankruptcy Stories
I filed bankruptcy in February of 2005.
Let me tell you, filing bankruptcy was a very difficult decision. But I
was deep in debt with credit card bills and about to lose my home.
I had one son at the time so I decided to file bankruptcy to save our
home so my son would have his home. I thought it would be
a hard process to have to spill my life out in front
of strangers and let them know about every little
thing in my life.
But it wasn't like that at all. And after I filed and we went to court
and I was issued a bankruptcy my life changed. I no longer had those
bills to pay and no more bill collectors harassing me night and day.
Yes, I had the bankruptcy on my credit report but I still had my home
and my vehicle to get back and forth to work. After a year I was able
to go to my bank which I still had good credit with since I was able to
pay them since I filed bankruptcy and no longer had those bills.
I was able to purchase a new truck and establish better credit. Sure,
I've had some difficulty getting loans and credit cards. But my life,
and my credit, continues to improve. I now own a nice home
with 5 acres, 2 vehicles, and a miniature horse farm. I even
have a few credit cards that I use very responsibly.
Although a difficult decision at the time, filing bankruptcy
was an excellent decision and in the long term, had a positive
impact on my life.
