"Bankruptcy: The Best Decision I Ever Made"
Life After Bankruptcy Stories
I
hope this helps anyone reading.
Back in 2007 my financial life seemed hopeless. I was unexpectedly laid
off from my job and the collections calls just kept coming. And the
bills kept piling up in my mailbox, too.
Somehow
the debt collectors could just always track me down it seemed. I didn't
know what to do. I just didn't have the money to pay!
At first I was very reluctant to consider filing bankruptcy - I was
scared, thought I was giving up, and kept looking for another way.
One day I finally just
decided I had to file for bankruptcy. It was the best decision I ever
made. My attorney was able to help me keep my house, many of my debts
were discharged, and I was just able to put all the pieces back
together.
We worked out deals with the credit card companies, the mortgage
company, and all of the other bills that had somehow just piled up. I
thought I would never see the end of those bills and it was so
satisfying to see them handled. It was hard sometimes but I survived.
And now a few years later it really is like a second chance. I've found
another job and the old debts aren't dragging me down. I'm able to
start again and not be burdened by all those old bills. And the best
part is no more bill collectors calling! I can sleep at night without
that looming over my head.
Bankruptcy really isn’t the end of the world. I have to keep to a
budget, repay some debts, but overall everything is manageable. I
really feel like a new person and I’m not sure this could have happened
without filing bankruptcy.
It is a hard decision but it was worth doing. This is
Eric from New Mexico and this is my story. I hope this helps anyone
reading. Back in 2007 my financial life seemed hopeless. I was...
