Alaska Bankruptcy Lawyer

The first step to filing bankruptcy in the "last frontier" is to retain an Alaska bankruptcy lawyer.

Here you will find the following:

Referral Sources

To find an Alaska bankruptcy lawyer, one of the best resources is referrals from others. However, if you are at a loss as to where to begin, a good starting place is to contact your local county bar association or the lawyer referral service of the Alaska Bar Association:

Alaska Bar Association
550 W. 7th Ave., Suite 1900
Anchorage, AK 99510
(907) 272-7469

The lawyer referral service will be able to provide you with names and contact information for Alaska lawyers that not only practice bankruptcy, but who are also licensed members in good standing.

Dealing with Inadequate Representation

Bankruptcy is a complex, legal matter. Many people delay hiring an attorney, or even try to go through the process without one, for various reasons. However, fear of inadequate representation should not be one of those reasons.

Every Alaska bankruptcy lawyer is required to adhere to the Alaska Rules of Professional Conduct. These ethical standards require that your attorney handle your case in a professional and competent manner.

In the unlikely event that your case is not handled in an ethical manner, you do have rights. You may want to start by first contacting the Alaska Bar Association using the contact information above.

The Bar Association also has information online detailing the attorney grievance procedure.
